It may sound cliché, but GATA Talk is a podcast for fans, by fans. Hosts Matt Mauney and Cody Anderson are both proud Georgia Southern graduates. They bleed blue and white and are always chatting about Eagles football. The topics you'll hear on this podcast are conversations Matt and Cody will have regardless. They figured they might as well record it for whoever wants to listen.
GATA Talk will feature all the hot topics about Georgia Southern football, recapping and previewing games throughout the 2018 season. This podcast is for all those who bleed blue and white. The goal of GATA Talk is to give Eagle Nation another avenue of coverage and connect fans with the latest information about their favorite team.
Meet the Hosts
Choosing a college is difficult for many. It wasn't for Matt. He knew he wanted to be an Eagle since his senior year of high school, and he's bled blue ever since. A journalism major, Matt spent more than four years working for Georgia Southern Student Media, spending much of that time covering Eagles athletics for the George-Anne newspaper.
He covered the football team as a beat writer and columnist for three years during the Chris Hatcher era and was at the introductory press conference for former head coach Jeff Monken. His column, Show Me the Mauney, was popular among students and fans. Matt continues to support the football team as a booster as well as Georgia Southern Student Media.
After graduating, Matt spent about six years in sports journalism before covering Walt Disney World and other Central Florida theme parks for the Orlando Sentinel. He now works in digital marketing and is happy to be back in the world of sports talk discussing his favorite team.
As a GS student during what some call the “dark years” of Georgia Southern football (the he-shall-not-be-named and Hatcher years), Matt is excited for what Eagle Nation could have in store in the Chad Lunsford era and is thrilled to be able to offer fans yet another opportunity to follow their team.
Cody lives in Statesboro with his wife and daughter. He graduated from Georgia Southern in the fall of 2009 with a degree in mathematics. Cody and his family are fanatical fans for all things Georgia Southern.
Besides going to as many Georgia Southern athletic events as he can, you can catch him and his family at any one of the fantastic restaurants, local stores, and cool events around the Boro.
